Recommendation 1 - Construction Standards
New construction of the balcony will include:
To achieve better bush fire outcomes, upgrading the existing building to improve ember protection
will significantly mitigate the risk of bush fires to the building. This will be achieved by enclosing all
openings (excluding roof spaces) or covering openings with a with steel, bronze, or aluminium to
maximum allowable aperture of 2mm or weather strip with a flammability index not greater than
5 (AS1530.2). Where applicable, this includes any sub floor areas, openable, windows, doors, vents, weepholes, and eaves.
